SFGI’s Story, So Far
Our North Star
Step Forward Global Initiative (SFGI) was born of its North Star: if women are 51% of the global population, why are we 13% of global leaders?
Instead of focusing on the outcome - the end of the leadership pipeline - we examine the starting line and the women who step forward for higher office at this entry point.
Following our North Star, from inception to current presentation, SFGI continues to develop the three components of our platform: SFGI’s website, social media, and the engine that drives these: our global data hub, NOVEL, powered by AI and data analytics.
NOVEL, Our Next Chapter
SFGI is ready to build on its visualizations and develop “NOVEL”, which will capture global women stepping forward across 193 countries in elections at the executive, subnational, legislative, and local levels. Data will be pulled from electoral lists, public records, and news sources.
A First of its Kind
Thanks to our Founding Circle, SFGI raised $30,000 in June to leverage and attract $250,000 - $500,000 in funding to develop NOVEL, now. As the first scalable infrastructure designed to measure women stepping forward into leadership, NOVEL will create an unprecedented evidence base for understanding women's leadership participation worldwide, elevating women who step forward for public office and educating the global public about them.
