Sondra Macollins
Sondra Macollins is an independent candidate contesting the presidency of Colombia in the 2026 election. She is one of three women and ten men in the race. The election will be held on May 31, 2026, with a second round scheduled for June 21, 2026, if no candidate achieves an outright majority in the first round.
Macollins was born in the coastal city of Santa Marta, Colombia. She studied law at Universidad Libre de Colombia in Bogotá and at St. John's University School of Law in New York. For the past thirty years she has worked as a criminal defense lawyer in Colombia. She first ran for the Colombian legislature in 2022 with the endorsement of the Colombian Conservative Party. She is now seeking the presidency as an independent, having secured a spot on the ballot by obtaining a sufficient number of signatures from citizens.
Macollins, who speaks both Spanish and English, is centering her campaign on reforming Colombia’s justice system and advancing human rights protections. She has highlighted the need for structural changes within judicial institutions and has emphasized policies aimed at safeguarding vulnerable populations, including women and migrants, in Colombia.
