Gina Hinojosa
Gina Hinojosa is a nominee for governor of Texas, with the election scheduled for November 3, 2026. Born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley, Hinojosa earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Texas and a law degree from the George Washington University in Washington, D.C. She began her career as a civil-rights and labor lawyer, representing unions and working families, and later entered public service as a board member for the Austin Independent School District, eventually rising to the role of board president. Hinojosa was elected to the Texas House of Representatives in 2016 and has represented central Austin since 2017, focusing on public education, health care, labor rights, and government accountability. In her gubernatorial campaign, Hinojosa has emphasized investing in neighborhood schools, expanding access to health care, lowering costs for Texans, and supporting working families.
