Tina Kotek is the incumbent Democratic governor of Oregon, seeking reelection on November 3, 2026. She was born in York, Pennsylvania, and graduated from the University of Oregon with a bachelor’s degree in religious studies; she later earned a master’s degree in international studies from the University of Washington. Before becoming governor in January 2023, Kotek served in Oregon state politics for many years, including as speaker of the Oregon House, and she built her career around housing, health care, and legislative leadership. Her campaign for a second term has centered on housing affordability, public safety, education, and government effectiveness.

Alison Handel, SFGI Intern

A Los Angeles-native, Alison moved to New York to attend NYU where she studied international development and documentary filmmaking. After graduating, she was awarded a Fulbright grant to research migration patterns during the Brazilian Belle Epoque in Manaus, Brazil. She is currently pursuing a dual Master's of International Affairs/Juris Doctor degree with the Colin Powell School and CUNY Law.
