Hannah Pingree is a nominee for governor of Maine. A Maine native, Pingree was born in Belfast and raised in North Haven. She earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Brown University before beginning her career in public service and community work. Pingree was elected to the Maine House of Representatives at the age of 26 and later became the youngest woman in the nation to serve as speaker of a state House, leading the chamber from 2008 to 2010. After leaving the state legislature, she worked in state-level policy and housing, including directing the governor’s Office of Policy Innovation and the Future, where she focused on climate, housing, workforce, and recovery issues. In her campaign, Pingree has emphasized lowering the cost of living, expanding affordable housing, supporting working families, and strengthening Maine’s economy. Elections will take place on Tuesday, November 3.

A Los Angeles-native, Alison moved to New York to attend NYU where she studied international development and documentary filmmaking. After graduating, she was awarded a Fulbright grant to research migration patterns during the Brazilian Belle Epoque in Manaus, Brazil. She is currently pursuing a dual Master's of International Affairs/Juris Doctor degree with the Colin Powell School and CUNY Law.
